Joint Efforts with JETRO to Support Collaboration between Overseas Startups and Japanese Companies
GESHER, Inc. (CEO: Yohei Harada, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) has been selected as the winner of the project organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for providing research reports and consulting services for overseas startups.
In 2021, JETRO held an overseas startup contest themed "Japan Challenge for Society 5.0 - Accelerate Innovation with Japan" aimed at finding solutions to social issues faced by Japan. Out of the 45 startups selected, 15 were chosen as winners. JETRO's support for these 15 winning startups includes the following:
- Support for expansion into the Japanese market.
- Support during the exhibition in the Overseas Startup Zone set up by JETRO at CEATEC 2022 (held from October 18-21, 2022, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba (https://www.ceatec.com/ja/)
This project is to provide tailored market research and arrange meetings with Japanese companies for the 15 selected startups as part of the support mentioned above.
Japan Challenge for Society5.0-Accelerate Innovation with Japan
This contest was conducted by JETRO in 2021 with the theme of solving social issues faced by Japan, targeting startups worldwide. Out of 292 entries from 53 countries and regions, 45 startups were selected. JETRO provided mentoring by venture capitalists and support for exhibiting at CEATEC 2021 ONLINE. In 2022, support is being provided to the 15 winning startups from the 45 selected.

Support for Expansion into the Japanese Market
1. Joint Online Support: JETRO and GESHER are jointly conducting market research in Japan and arranging business matching with Japanese companies for the 15 winning startups. This business matching is conducted not only to support the award winners but also to benefit Japanese companies through collaboration.
2. In-Person Meetings: The winners are scheduled to visit Japan to exhibit at CEATEC 2022. During their stay, opportunities for in-person business meetings and matchmaking with Japanese companies will be provided at and outside the CEATEC venue.
*some winners are unable not visit Japan, so in-person meetings are limited to those who will be present.
